Good news. Our first full production run of eVent clothing has just arrived. This means our Flak jackets and Flak pants are now available in all sizes.

Bad news. 2 months after the promised delivery deadline, our supplier from hell has still failed to deliver the fabrics we use for the X2 Storm and X2 Bomb tents. Our tent factory is geared for production as soon as the fabric passes through the gates, but it is likely to be late May before they become available ex-Leeds warehouse.

Sales of the new AK47-X – the floating lid version of the AK47 – have been phenomenal. We’ve almost sold out. They could be difficult to get hold of by June, and we don’t expect new stock until July. We will also be making the AK47-X in a size 1.

The AK70 launch has been delayed to July/August for two reasons – urgent demand for more AK47-X’s has kicked them out of the planned production slot, but we are also testing a new titanium stay in the framesheet to replace the aluminium one originally planned.

Just in is our big, light and very packable holdall – the aptly named Bodybag (and don’t take this seriously as its intended end-use!). The capacity is 90 litres. We have a 120 litre model also, but we couldn’t afford to put it into production so it will be coming out in ’08.

Also newly arrived are our MAG daysacs. After using a prototype for about the last 18 months, and having been asked incessantly where I got it from, we took the plunge and committed to making what is probably going to be our only non-climbing product. There are two sizes – 22 litres and 28 litres.

The new AK series is now in stock.

Don’t panic, the AK has hardly changed. Apart from minor cosmetic alterations to the front, the major innovation is a redesigned back system with a better hip-belt for a more comfortable carry. Additionally, although the AK sacs were already pretty waterproof, the lid pocket is now fully waterproof and the one seam in the base has now been taped. And the weight – they’ve all lost about 20 grams.
